It was a calm morning.
I was sipping my coffee and scrolling through my phone when it rang.
“Someone accidentally took the keys home,” said the voice on the other end. “We can’t reach them, and nobody can get in.”
In the past, this would have meant rushing out the door and spending at least fifteen minutes driving over to unlock it.
This time, I simply opened my phone, tapped the unlock icon in the TTLock app, and ta-da...the door opened.

I could even see the unlock record and door status on my screen.
In shops and shared workplaces,
these "emergency" moments happen all the time.
That moment perfectly explains what remote unlocking really means.
What Is Remote Unlocking?
Remote unlocking means your phone becomes the ultimate master key, allowing you to grant access even when you’re abroad.
With TTLock, once your smart lock is paired with a Wi-Fi Gateway, you unlock the full potential of your home or office. The Wi-Fi Gateway acts as a bridge, connecting your Bluetooth lock to the internet and turning your smartphone into a universal remote for your doorstep.

Once connected, you can:
Unlock from anywhere: Open the door for guests, deliveries, or staff with a single tap, whether you're across town or abroad.
Check door status in real time: No more second-guessing; instantly see if your door is securely locked.
View activity logs: Track exactly who entered and when with detailed records delivered straight to your phone.
Whether you’re at home, at work, or even traveling, your door remains under your control.
Yes—you really can unlock a door with your phone.
It’s not just technology; it’s the peace of mind that comes with staying connected.
Why Is Remote Unlocking Important?
Remote unlocking isn’t just a “nice-to-have” feature.
For many people, it solves very real problems.
It’s especially useful when:
The "Locked Out" Emergency: A family member is locked out in the rain or a colleague arrives early to the office.
Property Management: You manage a shop, Airbnb, or office and need to let someone in without traveling across town.
Urgent Service Access: You need to grant access to a repairman or delivery person while you're at work.
Key Security: You want to move away from physical keys that can be lost, stolen, or copied.
Instead of panicking, driving back, or leaving keys under a mat (please don't), you just open an app.
Simple. Controlled. Logged.
What You Need to Get Started
Before you can enjoy the freedom of remote unlocking, make sure you have these five essentials ready:
A TTLock-Compatible Smart Lock: Ensure your hardware supports the TTLock ecosystem.
The TTLock App: Installed and registered on your smartphone.
A TTLock G2 Wi-Fi Gateway: This is the "brain" that connects your Bluetooth lock to the internet.
Internet Access: Your phone needs a stable connection (Wi-Fi or Data), and your Gateway must be within range of your home Wi-Fi.
Admin Permission: Ensure you have the administrator account or an authorized eKey.
⚠️ Important Note: Without a Gateway, your lock communicates via Bluetooth only. This means you must be within about 5–10 meters of the door to unlock it. To unlock from anywhere in the world, the Gateway is a must.
How to Unlock Your Door Remotely with TTLock
Alright,
here comes the important part.

Here’s how it works step by step:
Open the TTLock app on your phone
Select the lock you want to control
Tap the Unlock button
Confirm the action (fingerprint, Face ID, or password if enabled)
Wait for the confirmation message
Check the unlock record and door status
That’s it.
Quick tip:
The big unlock button in the middle uses Bluetooth to open the door—so you need to be nearby.
For remote unlocking, look for the smaller icon at the bottom right corner of the big unlock button. That’s the one that lets you open the door from anywhere.
Don’t be like one of my clients who kept tapping the big button… only to find the door still locked! 😅

Common Questions & Expert Tips
Why isn't my remote unlock working?
If you’re tapping the button but nothing's happening, it usually comes down to one of three things:
The Gateway Connection:
Check if your Wi-Fi Gateway is online (look for the light status!). If your home Wi-Fi is down, the "bridge" is broken.
Bluetooth Range:
Make sure the Gateway is close enough to the lock itself. Walls can sometimes block the signal.
Power Check:
It sounds simple, but check your battery level in the app.
If the lock is in "low battery" mode, it might disable remote functions to save power for a physical entry.
Is it actually safe to unlock my door over the internet?
It’s a common concern, but in many ways, it's safer than a physical key.
Why?
Because digital footprints don't lie.
Every single time that door opens, the TTLock app logs it. You’ll know exactly who walked in, how they did it (app, passcode, or card), and the precise minute it happened.
You aren't just giving out a key; you're gaining an audit trail.
Can I manage a whole building this way?
Absolutely.
This is where TTLock really shines.
Whether you’re running a small boutique shop, a busy co-working space, or an Airbnb, you can group multiple locks under one account.
You can check the status of ten different doors from your couch just as easily as you can check one.
All our smart locks support this powerful remote management feature — making your life easier, whether it’s one door or dozens.
