A no-stress walkthrough for new users—get your smart lock working today!

Controlling your door lock with just one tap—sounds cool, right? It’s actually one of the most essential features everyone uses after installing a smart lock. In our previous article, we talked about how smart locks can make daily life more convenient and secure. Now, it's time to see just how quick and easy it is to get started.

The truth is, it’s not complicated at all. All you need is your smartphone and a fully installed smart lock. A few simple steps, and you’re good to go. No need to be an engineer, no digging through thick manuals, and definitely no tech-induced stress.

This guide is designed especially for beginners. Whether you’re a parent, a homeowner, or a first-time user who isn’t super tech-savvy, just follow along—and in under 10 minutes, your lock will be up and running. It’s time to experience smarter, safer living for yourself.

🔧 What You’ll Need:

  • A smartphone (iOS or Android)

  • Bluetooth turned ON

  • Internet connection (for account setup)

  • Your smart lock installed (make sure the batteries are in!)

📲 Step-by-Step TTLock Setup

Step 1: Download the TTLock App

  1. Open the App Store or Google Play

  2. Search for TTLock

  3. Tap Install and wait a few seconds

Step 2: Create an Account

  1. Open the app and tap Register

  2. You can register using your phone number or email

  3. Make sure to select your country/region correctly—this affects connectivity and sharing

  4. Set a strong password

  5. Check your email (or phone) for a confirmation link or verification code to activate your account

💡Quick Tip:

If someone sends you an eKey and you’re not registered yet, TTLock will auto-create an account for you and send login details by SMS.

Step 3: Turn on Bluetooth and Location

Bluetooth & Location settings – make sure both are enabled before setup.

  1. Open your phone’s Settings

  2. Make sure both Bluetooth and Location/GPS are switched ON

💡 Quick Tip:

Instead of opening your full Settings app, you can usually swipe down from the top of your screen to access the Quick Settings panel.

There, you can quickly switch on Bluetooth and Location with just a tap—no digging required.

💡 Why this matters:

TTLock uses Bluetooth to pair with your lock and Location Services to detect it securely. Without both, the app won’t find your lock—even if you’re standing right next to it.

Step 4: Add Your Lock

  1. pen the TTLock app

  2. On the home screen, tap the “≡” menu button (top left), then tap “Add Lock”

  3. The app will search for nearby locks using Bluetooth

  4. Wake up the lock by touching the keypad or swiping a card

  5. Your lock should appear in the Nearby Locks list—tap the “+” button to connect

  6. Once added, it will show up on your home screen with its name and battery level

⚠️ Notice:

If the lock was previously added by someone else, it won’t enter setup mode. You’ll need to reset the lock first, then try again.

💡 Troubleshooting Tip:

If the lock doesn’t show up, check the batteries, move closer, and make sure Bluetooth and Location are still on.

Step 5: Name Your Lock

  1. After adding your lock, you’ll be prompted to name it

  2. Use something easy to remember—like Front Door or Rental Unit A

  3. Tap OK or Save

💡 A clear name helps you quickly identify each lock, especially if you add more in the future.

🛠 Common Setup Issues & How to Fix Them

Even the best apps can be picky sometimes. If something isn’t working during setup, try these quick fixes:

❌ Lock not showing up when scanning?

  • Make sure you're standing close to the lock

  • Double-check Bluetooth and Location are turned ON

  • Restart your phone or remove/reinsert the lock’s batteries

“Lock already added” error?

  • The lock might already be paired with another device

  • Try requesting an admin transfer, or reset the lock manually (check your lock’s manual for instructions)

❌ Didn’t get the confirmation email?

  • Check your spam/junk folder

  • Still nothing? Try registering again using a Gmail or other well-known provider

💡 A clear name helps you quickly identify each lock, especially if you add more in the future.

  4. Select “Basics” or “Lock Name” (depending on your app version).

  5. Delete the current name and type in your new one (e.g., “Front Door”, “Rental Unit B”).
