She Forgot Her Keys… The Day After We Talked About This

This is a story that is as funny as it is relatable.

We were chatting with my new neighbour the other day, and somehow we started talking about smart locks.

That’s when we realised…

it might actually make a lot of sense for her.

Because she’s deep in full-on mum life — juggling a one-year-old on her hip and a child in primary school.

If you’re a parent,

you know exactly what her morning "School Run" looks like:

  • Heavy school bags sliding off shoulders.

  • The frantic hunt for the other shoe.

  • Toddler snacks being dropped.

  • Balancing a squirming toddler who suddenly feels like they weigh 50kg.

  • All while trying—and failing—to stay on schedule.

It’s not just leaving the house; it’s a tactical mission.

She told me she often ends up in the "Mum Loop." Either she forgets her keys in the rush, or she gets three blocks away and that nagging thought hits: “Wait… did I actually lock the door?”

And then — almost too perfectly…

The very next day, she came over with her kids.

We had a nice chat, everything was going fine…

Until she was about to head home.

She checked her bag.

Then started looking around — our table, the sofa, everywhere.

Nothing.

She checked again.

No keys.

She was locked out — right after we had just talked about how much she needed a better system.

She looked at me, gave that tired, slightly embarrassed smile…

And I couldn’t help but laugh and say:

“See? You really do need a smart lock.

Let’s figure out how we can help you now.” 😂

So what did we do?

We ended up climbing over the back garden, going in through the back door, just to get inside and grab the keys.

Problem solved… sort of.

But it definitely started a bigger conversation.

And by the next day?

They had already decided to install a smart lock.

I think that moment made him realise:

If we could get in that easily…

someone else probably could too.

The truth is, motherhood is managing tiny humans while constantly carrying too many things.

If you’re a mum, this probably sounds familiar:

• hands full 90% of the time

• always carrying something (or someone)

• constantly in a rush

• already thinking about 10 things at once

And then… you still have to remember your keys.

Traditional keys expect you to have two free hands and a perfect memory. Let’s be honest… that isn’t happening.

Why Smart Locks Just Make Sense for Mums

It isn’t about having fancy gadgets for the sake of tech. It’s about removing one more "mental load" item from your to-do list.

✔ Fingerprint Access:

Your Finger is the Key!

Hands full of groceries?

Holding a sleeping baby?

You don’t need to dig through the "black hole" that is your handbag.

One touch, and you’re in. It’s the kind of effortless entry every tired mum deserves.

✔ Auto-Lock:

No More Second-Guessing The "Did I lock the door?" anxiety is real.

With a smart lock,

you can set it to lock automatically the moment the door shuts.

One less thing to think about as you drive away.

✔ Temporary Access for Your Village

Whether it’s the babysitter, the grandparents, or the cleaner, you don't need to cut extra keys (or worry about them being lost).

Just create a temporary code and delete it when you don’t need it anymore.

✔ No More "Secret" Hiding Spots

We all know that hiding a key under the mat or inside a plant pot isn't actually a secret. Smart locks make your home more secure while eliminating the panic of a lost physical key.

✔ Future-Proofing for Your Kids

As your children get older and start coming home from school on their own, do you really want them carrying a physical key that they might lose or lend to a friend?

A personalized code (or fingerprint) gives you control and peace of mind.

You can even get a notification on your phone the moment they get home safely.

It’s not about the tech

Smart locks aren’t just for tech lovers.

Sometimes…

they’re simply for tired mumstrying to survive the morning routine.

And honestly?

Anything that makes mornings even 10% easier…

is probably worth it.

If this sounds a little too familiar…

maybe it’s time to make things a bit easier.

Feel free to message me if you’re curious about what might work for your home 😊
